The Opportunity
The Accounting Clerk 4 (for approximately 6 months) is responsible for a high degree of speed and accuracy in processing a high volume of transactions in various Finance Operations functions such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Banking. The Accounting Clerk 4 is responsible for handling inquiries from internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner. This is a NSGEU 470E position, and preference will be given to qualified members.

Reporting to: Supervisor, Financial Operations

Essential Responsibilities
- Process vendor invoices and credit memos for timely and accurate outgoing payments
- Work with vendors and other business units to resolve invoicing issues
- Prepare regular vendor account reconciliations
- Generate customer invoices and credit memos
- Post incoming cheque payments, process credit card payments and refunds, and prepare reconciliations for payments
- Support daily monitoring activities to uphold internal control procedures
- Respond to inquiries from internal and external customers in a prompt, friendly and efficient manner
- Assist accounting team in customer/vendor reconciliations
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist other accounting clerks within the Business Unit and provide back up as required
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in AR/AP processes
- Maintain up to date knowledge and skills related to the role
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
As a qualified candidate, you will have:
- Grade 12 plus a business certificate or diploma in accounting
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in general accounting functions/operations or equivalent
- The ability to complete a Criminal Record check upon hire, or provide one issued within the past 6 months
As an ideal candidate, you will also have:
- Experience working in an SAP environment
- Experience working in a retail organization
An alternate combination of education and experience may be considered equivalent.
