The Opportunity

 

The Motion & Media Design Specialist is responsible for the development and execution of motion-based creative assets, including video, motion graphics, and photography, supporting the NSLC’s shopper marketing, corporate, and reputation-based initiatives. This role plays a vital part in delivering compelling, high-quality multimedia content that enhances visual storytelling and aligns with strategic goals. 

 

Working collaboratively across internal teams and external partners, the Motion & Media Design Specialist contributes to the creation of digital campaigns, shopper experiences, and internal communications that reinforce the NSLC’s reputation, values, and business priorities.

Reporting to: Reputation Marketing & Creative Services Manager

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

  • Translate business needs into creative solutions by concepting, planning, and executing motion and media assets (including short-form video, motion graphics, and photography) across internal and external channels
  • Capture, edit, and deliver photo and video content for marketing campaigns, social channels, events, in-store screens, and digital platforms, ensuring creative outputs meet the strategic objectives of each initiative
  • Act as a creative subject matter expert, providing guidance, recommendations, and insight to internal stakeholders and partners to ensure all motion and media executions are impactful, on-brand, and strategically sound
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Marketing, Reputation, Digital Content, and other business units) and external partners (Creative and media agencies, suppliers, printing and loyalty partners) to develop and deliver creative assets that bring stories to life through compelling multimedia executions that align with NSLC’s creative direction and brand standards
  • Provide input on campaign development and actively participate in the creative briefing process with internal stakeholders and agency partners to ensure alignment from the outset
  • Serve as a steward of the NSLC brand, ensuring consistency and excellence across all motion and media executions
  • Support the evolution of content creation at the NSLC by identifying new approaches, technologies, and trends in video, animation, and visual storytelling
  • Manage the planning and execution of multimedia production schedules to meet campaign timelines and ensure assets are delivered on time, on budget, and to specification
  • Support the development and maintenance of an internal content library of footage, photography, and motion graphics for future use

Secondary Responsibilities

 

  • Support in the creation and evolution of brand style guides and templates specific to video, motion graphics, and photography
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for multimedia projects as needed
  • Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Creative Services team’s workflows and processes, identifying opportunities, initiating and implementing new ideas to improve our current systems and procedures within the team
  • Stay current on industry tools, trends, and best practices for video, motion graphics, and photography
  • Demonstrate commitment to the NSLC’s service standards, our values, and workplace health and safety
  • Some travel and occasional weekend work may be required. Access to a reliable vehicle or the ability to travel independently is necessary to support off-site events and activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

Qualifications

 

As a qualified candidate, you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Motion Design, Multimedia, Video Production, or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years of experience in multimedia production, preferably within a marketing or agency setting
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating experience in video, motion graphics, and photography

 

As an ideal candidate, you will also have:

  • Experience working in an in-house creative or brand environment
  • Experience producing content for retail or public sector audiences
  • Familiarity with content management systems or digital asset management tools

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. For those shortlisted, a digital portfolio will be required.
